Domestic violence against women is a complex problem with serious consequences for the physical, emotional and psychological health of victims. The study seeks to identify associations between violence against women, whether domestic or not, and the sociodemographic characteristics of the victims in the state of Sergipe. This is an ecological study using secondary data from the “Maria Beatriz Nascimento” Observatory from 2021 to 2023. The results show that the highest proportion of violence against women outside the family environment occurred in the daytime, while domestic violence was more prevalent at night. Psychological violence had the highest percentage, surpassing other modalities such as physical, moral and sexual violence in both groups. We conclude that the sociodemographic inequalities observed indicate that female vulnerability is strongly linked to structural and relational determinants. Violence against women is a complex problem and to tackle it, integrated actions are needed, as well as training for health services and the implementing of effective prevention and support strategies.
