This article aims to discuss the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in education, with an emphasis on the contributions, challenges, and perspectives related to their integration into teaching and learning processes. Through a bibliographic review, it analyzes the historical evolution of the use of technological resources in the school environment, as well as the didactic possibilities brought by active methodologies, virtual learning environments, and distance education. The research also addresses the importance of continuous teacher training for the pedagogical use of technologies, the need for digital inclusion, and the tackling of inequalities in access to these resources. The reflections developed are based on authors such as Moran, Kenski, Lévy, and Pretto, in addition to official documents that guide educational policies. It is concluded that technologies, when used critically, deliberately, and contextually, can foster more interactive, collaborative, and meaningful educational practices, promoting student learning and protagonism.
