Abstract

This work seeks to contribute to the research carried out in different areas of knowledge interested in mobilizing Discourse Analysis as a materialist theory of reading. In this sense, this article presents the results of a bibliographic study that addressed the epistemological, conceptual and methodological aspects of the Discourse Analysis (DA) program, conducted by Michel Pêcheux between the 1960s and 1980s. The history of the historical-ideological current of Discourse Analysis that is presented in this text contemplates the revisions and reelaboration undertaken by Pêcheux on the concepts that make up the theoretical and methodological apparatus of this field of knowledge. As a result of the research carried out, it is concluded that, despite the displacements produced within it, Discourse Analysis, developed and permanently reformulated by Michel Pêcheux and collaborators over more than two decades, remained faithful to its constant challenge of understanding the processes of constitution of meanings, engendered in and by discursive practices. Therefore, the importance of understanding the foundations and history of Pecheuxtian Discourse Analysis is reiterated, especially in the context of research that proposes to analyze the production of the effects of meanings, constituted in the imbrication of language with discursive exteriority.
