PHYSICAL THERAPY INTERVENTIONS IN CHILDREN WITH SÍNDROME DE RETT: LITERATURE REVIEW

Introduction: This study addressed the role of physiotherapy in Rett syndrome, highlighting how fundamental physiotherapy is for improving the motor and respiratory function of children affected by this syndrome. Objective: To describe physiotherapy interventions and techniques and their benefits in the rehabilitation of Rett syndrome through a literature review. Materials and Methods: This is a qualitative and descriptive literature review, conducted in national and international databases such as SciELO, LILACS, PubMed, and Google Scholar, with publications between 2016 and 2025, which analyzed physiotherapy approaches and strategies in Rett syndrome. Results: The results demonstrated that continuous physiotherapy showed significant results in mobility, muscle strengthening, improved balance, improved gait, and improved respiratory function. Early, individualized and continuous treatment is essential to prevent the progression of this pathology. Therapeutic resources such as kinesiotherapy, aquatic physiotherapy, equine therapy, the Bobath method, and respiratory physiotherapy contribute to these gains. Scientific Contribution: This study contributes to strengthening physiotherapy practice in the rehabilitation of Rett syndrome, bringing together physiotherapy approaches and their contributions. Conclusion: It is concluded that physiotherapy contributes significantly to the functionality and quality of life of patients affected by the syndrome.
