Introduction: Onco-hematological diseases comprise a group of conditions that affect the hematopoietic and lymphatic systems and can be classified as leukemias (acute and chronic), multiple myeloma (MM), and Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Objective: To identify nurses’ competencies regarding the care provided to patients with onco-hematological diseases. Methodology: This is a scoping review based on scientific articles published in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), PubMed, CAPES Journal Portal, SciELO, and the Cochrane Library. The following Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS/MeSH) in English were used: “health education,” “nursing care,” “hematology,” and “oncology.” The terms were combined using the Boolean operator AND. Results: The database search yielded a total of 1,822 articles published between 2016 and 2023. From these, after screening titles and abstracts, five articles were selected for analysis and discussion. Data discussion: The study highlights the importance of technical, social, emotional, and psychosocial skills, which are essential for professionals given the complexity of caring for patients with onco-hematological diseases. Additionally, the research reinforces the relevance of health education, as it updates knowledge, improves skills, and contributes to safety and quality of care. Final considerations: Nursing care for patients with onco-hematological diseases requires multiple competencies, involving not only specialized technical skills but also emotional, social, and educational capacities.
