Objective: To identify and analyze the main challenges and barriers faced by emergency nurses during the care of adult patients experiencing in-hospital cardiac arrest. Methods: An integrative review was conducted at Cleber Leite College, using the health descriptors “Heart Arrest”; “Emergency Nursing”; “Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation”; “Health Human Resource Evaluation” and “Education, Nursing”. Articles published between 2014 and 2024 were selected from the BVS and PubMed databases. Results: Six articles were included for the review, with three being national and three international. Conclusions: Continuing education is essential to maintain nurses' competencies in CPR, as sporadic training does not ensure skill retention in critical environments. Programs that combine theory and clinical simulation enhance knowledge, satisfaction, and self-confidence. Challenges such as lack of infrastructure and burnout negatively impact the quality of interventions, highlighting the need for institutional support.
