BENEFITS OF PHYSIOTHERAPY FOR ELDERLY PATIENTS IN THE BRAZILIAN PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM

This study aims to highlight the importance of physiotherapy for the elderly within the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). To this end, an integrative literature review was conducted based on scientific articles. six scientific articles and two institutional documents were selected for analysis. Regarding the perspectives of physiotherapy practice in Primary Health Care for the elderly, the categories denoted actions for health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment at the individual and collective levels, as well as working with the family health team. It is concluded that there is a lack of studies on the subject. Therefore, it is recommended to emphasize the importance of developing research aimed at improving the role of physiotherapy in elderly health at the primary level.
