Abstract

Domestic violence constitutes a serious social problem in Brazil, requiring the formulation and implementation of effective public policies for its prevention and confrontation. In the state of Rondônia, State Law No. 5,165/2021 established the Mulher Protegida Program, with the aim of providing support to women who are victims of domestic and family violence, encompassing physical, psychological, sexual, property-related, and moral forms of violence. The program seeks to strengthen the guarantee of human rights for women in situations of socioeconomic vulnerability who are under an active emergency protective measure, promoting their protection against negligence, discrimination, exploitation, cruelty, and oppression through socioeconomic assistance. This study proposes an analysis of the aforementioned law, situating it within the context of gender-based violence in Rondônia. The research examines the objectives of the Mulher Protegida Program, its mechanisms of operation, the services and benefits provided, as well as its articulation with other public policies and institutional bodies. Instruments for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the policy are also considered. The methodology adopted is based on documentary and bibliographic analysis, engaging in dialogue with relevant federal legislation and academic studies on domestic violence and public policies for the protection of women. It is expected that this analysis will contribute to a deeper understanding of the law, identifying its advances and challenges, and will provide support for the improvement of strategies to confront gender-based violence, strengthening the protection and rights of women in Rondônia.
