REVIEW OF ‘BRAZIL ADULT PACK, PRACTICAL APPROACH TO CARE KIT: A CLINICAL MANAGEMENT TOOL IN PRIMARY HEALTH CARE’

Abstract

Primary Health Care has the following attributes: the individual's first point of contact with the health system, longitudinality, comprehensiveness, and coordination of care. These serve as the basis for the digital book ‘Pack Brasil, a kit of care in Primary Health Care: a clinical management tool in Primary Health Care’, published in 2025, which addresses the most common symptoms and conditions of adult patients in Primary Health Care: communicable, non-communicable, and infectious diseases, public health issues, mental health problems, women's health, and palliative care. The ‘PACK guide’, initiated in Florianópolis, is aligned with the most current evidence and guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO); however, the publication covers not only clinical manifestations, complementary exams, and treatments, but also health promotion, prevention, and communication in clinical encounters. Applicable to the specific health needs of the Brazilian population and the structure of the Unified Health System (SUS), it originates from a cooperation agreement between the Sergio Arouca National School of Public Health (ENSP) of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), the Foundation for Scientific and Technological Development in Health (Fiotec), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States (CDC). With the aim of expanding the ‘PACK’ program to other Brazilian municipalities supported by the ‘The Time is Now’ (AHA) project, the ‘PACK Brazil Adult’ program has been implemented in Campo Grande, Fortaleza, and Porto Alegre since 2023.
