LIBERAL ARTS: TRAINING INTELLECTUAL AND TRANSCENDENTAL STUDENTS

This article was written to examine classical education as a way of reviving an educational system that produced great intellectuals and saints. The aim is to develop the highest faculties of man, which are intelligence and will, through the study of classical educational methodology. It also seeks to explain classical education, compare aspects of modern pedagogy with those of classical pedagogy, and discuss how to reestablish classical education in order to improve teaching. To this end, we used data collection from bibliographic research as a method, in accordance with the view of the human being that classical education has bequeathed us, which is the cultivation of virtues. According to the data analysis, it was highlighted that one of the causes of the decline of our pedagogies and the breakdown of erudite culture is that we have lost touch with the past and become stuck in materialistic pedagogies. Thus, the research made it clear that the formation of intelligence and will forms better men, whose possibility of perceiving truth in reality becomes more appealing to their intellect. Finally, our research on various authors led us to conclude that without the formation of intelligence and will, man becomes a slave to his lower passions, and thus the pedagogy that enabled this formation in the excellence of these faculties was classical education.
