INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM, STATE TERRORISM, AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS: A REFLECTION IN LIGHT OF THE ISRAEL-HAMAS CONFLICT

This paper analyzes the conflict between Israel and Palestine, focusing on the role of international terrorism, state terrorism, and human rights violations. Beginning with a historical overview that encompasses the rise of the Zionist movement, the creation of the State of Israel, and Palestinian resistance, the study examines the actions of actors such as the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Hamas, as well as the impact of wars and intifadas. Furthermore, it addresses the conceptual evolution of terrorism from different perspectives (Western, Eastern, and Latin American), highlighting its use as a political and strategic instrument. The text underscores the practices of state terrorism, particularly repression and arbitrary detentions, and problematizes the serious human rights violations reported by international organizations. It concludes that the Israel–Hamas conflict goes beyond the territorial dimension, constituting a cycle of violence that directly affects the civilian population and undermines the effectiveness of international humanitarian law.
