MAP OF POPULAR CATHOLIC FESTIVALS IN MORRINHOS/GO

This research aimed to examine the popular Catholic festivals in the municipality of Morrinhos/GO, both in rural and urban areas, in order to map their aspects of Popular Catholicism (CHARTIER, 1995), and to understand their forms of manifestation and their insertion in the current cultural context (GREENFELD, 1998). With the proposal of rescuing the cultural manifestations of the elders for the younger generations, the festivals emerge as the cultural heritage of a people (REIS, 2019; SIMÃO, 2010). By reaffirming a local and national identity, they can be configured as a grouping of multiple elements: musical, scenic, sacred, devotional, of faith, etc. The objective is to create an inventory of the Popular Catholic Festivals in the city of Morrinhos/GO, verifying the dynamics present in the aspects of collective memory (HALBWACHS, 2013), identity (BRANDÃO, 1992), and heritage (SIMÃO, 2010). Data collection was carried out through research and systematization of an existing calendar, for a cartography of these festivals. As a result, an inventory map of popular Catholic festivals in Morrinhos/GO was developed, within a virtual archive that includes a map of popular festivals for the entire state of Goiás. The proposal for a virtual archive is based on the perspective of using digital technologies for the purpose of heritage preservation and dissemination (IPHAN, 2016) in the Goiás context.
