This study aimed to analyze the implementation of financial education in Brazilian public schools in middle school. Through a systematic literature review, the main challenges and opportunities for teaching financial education in this context were identified. The results indicate that the lack of specific teacher training, the scarcity of adequate teaching materials, and the complexity of the topic are the main obstacles to the implementation of financial education. On the other hand, the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) and the use of digital technologies represent opportunities for integrating this topic into the school curriculum. It is concluded that the implementation of financial education in Brazilian public schools still faces challenges, but the existence of public policies and the possibility of using new methodologies and teaching resources are factors that can contribute to improving teaching in this area.
