This study addressed the theme of the digital generation and its impact on the teaching and learning process, focusing on the cognitive and social characteristics of students from this generation. The central problem was understanding how these characteristics influence teaching practices and strategies. The main objective was to analyze the impacts of digital technologies on education and the challenges teachers face in adapting their practices. The research was bibliographical in nature, based on a literature review of the characteristics of digital natives, their cognitive and social skills, and suitable pedagogical methodologies. The study revealed that, while digital natives possess technological skills, they face cognitive and social challenges, such as superficial learning and difficulties in socialization. The conclusions highlighted the need for an adaptation of pedagogical practices, focusing on continuous teacher training and the strategic use of technologies. The research contributed to understanding the needs of the digital generation and the importance of active methodologies and teacher training for more effective and balanced teaching. Future studies may complement the findings, especially regarding the impact of technologies on students' socialization and the use of artificial intelligence for personalized teaching.
