This study investigated the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in educational assessment, with the aim of analyzing the innovations brought about by this technology, the challenges faced by educational institutions, and future possibilities. The research aimed to understand how AI can transform the assessment process and what impacts this transformation will have on student performance. The methodology adopted was a literature review, based on recent articles and studies on the application of AI in education. The results indicated that AI offers new ways of personalizing assessments, allowing continuous and accurate monitoring of student performance. In addition, the research highlighted that ongoing training of educators is essential for the implementation of AI in schools. However, the lack of adequate infrastructure and resistance from educators were identified as significant obstacles. The final considerations indicated that, despite the advances, the implementation of AI in educational assessment depends on overcoming these challenges, with an emphasis on teacher training and the creation of appropriate technological environments. The research also suggested the need for future research that addresses the ethical and practical issues of applying AI in education.
