FMEA AS A FAILURE PREVENTION TOOL

This study analyzed the application of the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) tool as a strategic instrument for failure prevention in different production and service sectors. The objective was to verify the contribution of the methodology to the identification of potential risks, the prioritization of corrective actions, and the consolidation of an organizational culture oriented towards continuous improvement. For this purpose, a bibliographic review and analysis of reported cases in industrial, maintenance, accounting services, and healthcare contexts were carried out to understand the scope of its use and the resulting benefits. The results showed that the application of FMEA makes it possible to reduce operational costs, eliminate rework, decrease waste, and increase process reliability, in addition to strengthening integration between areas and encouraging multidisciplinary cooperation. It was also observed that the tool contributes to the training of more qualified professionals, developing analytical and strategic skills that are fundamental for contemporary management. It is concluded that FMEA transcends the technical dimension and is consolidated as a methodology of strategic and social relevance, capable of ensuring greater organizational efficiency and promoting safety in highly complex sectors, such as healthcare.
