THE ROLE OF DISCIPLINARY BODIES IN THE LEGAL PROFESSION IN ENSURING PROFESSIONAL ETHICS AND THE TECHNICAL QUALITY OF LEGAL PRACTICE

This article analyzes the normative and institutional structure of the disciplinary bodies of the legal profession, examining their contribution to ensuring professional ethics and preserving the technical quality of legal practice. The research adopts a qualitative and bibliographic approach, grounded in the interpretation of the Brazilian Advocacy Statute, the Code of Ethics and Discipline, and related academic literature, aiming to understand how the disciplinary system articulates accountability, prevention, and institutional guidance. The findings indicate that the activity of Ethics and Discipline Tribunals consolidates objective standards of conduct, promotes interpretative uniformity, and reinforces the institutional credibility of the profession. It is concluded that the disciplinary regime of the legal profession constitutes a structural mechanism for professional dignity and a relevant instrument for maintaining social trust in the exercise of legal functions.
