Abstract

This article aimed to analyze, through a qualitative bibliographic review, how technological advances from the digital era have been integrated into the diagnosis and dental care of children with special needs, especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and manifestations of childhood bruxism. The research focused on scientific articles published between 2015 and 2024, covering thematic areas related to pediatric dentistry, digital health, early diagnosis, and interdisciplinary practice. It was observed that the incorporation of resources such as artificial intelligence, diagnostic support software, visual schedules, and assistive technologies has significantly improved the quality of pediatric dental care, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and reducing behavioral barriers in treating neurodivergent children. Moreover, the analyzed studies indicate that the presence of bruxism in children, particularly those with ASD, requires a differentiated clinical approach based on active listening, welcoming environments, and collaborative work among various healthcare professionals. The literature also highlights that professional unpreparedness, lack of inclusive protocols, and limited resources in public health services remain obstacles to effective care, emphasizing the need to reform clinical practices and public policies aimed at childhood care. It is concluded that the integration of technology, humanized approaches, and interdisciplinarity represents a promising strategy for qualifying pediatric dental care, especially for children with special needs, thus promoting not only oral health but also inclusion, respect, and well-being.
