This article aimed to analyze how Vocational and Technological Education (VET) has engaged with the principles of sustainable development, in light of recent economic transformations and the guidelines proposed by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study critically examined the integration between VTE and the SDGs, with special attention to regional constraints, sustainable pedagogical practices, and the demands imposed by the so-called Economy 4.0. To this end, a methodology based on bibliographic research was adopted, including a survey and examination of recent academic productions drawn from recognized scientific sources, using objective selection criteria. The analysis revealed significant gaps between institutional discourses and training practices, as well as the persistence of fragmented curricular structures that are poorly responsive to regional contexts. It was found that, although specific initiatives exist, the lack of integrated strategies that articulate technical training, sustainability, and regional development remains prevalent. Furthermore, the incorporation of the transdisciplinary dimension and the critical use of emerging technologies have proven incipient given the demands of the ongoing productive restructuring. Thus, it was concluded that strengthening EPT as a driver of socio-environmental justice requires structural changes in curricula, educational policies, and teacher training.
