LITERACY: A NEW LOOK

Abstract

The learning of reading and writing has gone through several processes, therefore, the one who was literate, need to make use of acquired skills and competences, implement the practice in events not only in the classroom but also outside. The key point for the individual to enter the literate society, is to know not only decode the messages, but use them when and where needed. In this broad development of effective literacy, we call literacy, which is inseparable from literacy and thus we can think of a more complete literacy. Given this design, aimed to highlight the importance of literacy from the perspective of literacy, that is, a literacy that glimpse into the social character of the practice of reading and writing without the dissociation of the two. Within the methodology, we opted for a exploratory research on the objectives for the collection procedures, the literature was used to compose the work, searching for information in previous studies.
