Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is a condition acquired during pregnancy that can have irreversible consequences for the health of the fetus if not diagnosed early, causing health issues for both the mother and the fetus, such as premature birth, preeclampsia, and fetal malformation, which may persist or resolve after delivery. This article addresses health education focused on the prevention of GDM and prenatal and postnatal care. The research investigates how pregnant women, often lacking knowledge on the subject, cope with the situation and the assistance received from the healthcare team. To achieve this, a bibliographic review was chosen as the research method, as it provides a comprehensive and well-founded view of the topic. The objective is to identify educational strategies for the prevention of GDM through literature review, as well as to gather effective health education resources to disseminate information about gestational diabetes, identify limiting factors for the implementation of prevention strategies, and highlight the results of preventive actions for gestational diabetes.
