ADAPTIVE LEARNING AND PERSONALIZATION: USING AI TO CREATE LEARNING PATHS THAT ADJUST TO EACH STUDENT'S PACE IN REAL TIME

Considering the transformations brought about by the expansion of digital technologies in the educational field and the need to develop pedagogical strategies capable of addressing the diversity of learning rhythms and styles, it becomes relevant to understand how AI can contribute to the personalization of teaching in digital environments. The objective is to analyze the use of AI in the construction of adaptive learning paths capable of adjusting to the pace of each student in real time, seeking to understand the contributions of these technologies to the personalization of teaching and to the development of more flexible, interactive, and student-centered educational experiences. To this end, an integrative literature review was conducted using the PubMed, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), and Virtual Health Library (BVS) databases, using controlled DeCS and MeSH descriptors related to AI, adaptive learning, personalization of learning, and educational technologies. After applying the eligibility criteria and reading the selected texts in full, seven scientific publications were included in the analysis. Thus, it is observed that AI-based educational systems allow for the reorganization of content, activities, and learning paths according to student performance, favoring individualized monitoring, greater student engagement, and dynamic reorganization of the pedagogical process. It is concluded that AI-mediated adaptive learning represents a promising strategy for personalizing education, although its implementation depends on adequate technological infrastructure, teacher training, and institutional guidelines focused on the ethical and responsible use of educational data.
