VOCATIONAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL EDUCATION AND EXTENSION: TRAINING OF FORMER INMATES

Abstract

The objective of this work is to analyze the development of training in the "Building Electrician" course, with 300 (three hundred) hours, for people released from the prison system, aiming at their social and productive inclusion in the labor market. In addition to promoting the solidarity economy (associativism and cooperativism). The discussion about the social and productive insertion of people released from the prison system is not new in the world. It arises from the observation that prison does not reintegrate individuals, demonstrating the inability of this punishment model to solve the problem of violence and crime. For the realization of the work, a qualitative methodology was used, with the following data collection instruments: bibliographic review, semi-structured interviews with students to investigate the impacts of the course on the lives of the ex-prisoners, and a questionnaire via Google Forms with undergraduate students who taught the course. There were 22 students enrolled and 14 received the certificate. Those who left the course did so because they found work. All those students who obtained the certificates managed to enter the world of work. It is worth noting that the project was funded by the Minas Gerais Research Support Foundation (FAPEMIG), awarded in Call 011/2022 – “Support for Extension Projects in Interface with Research”.
