SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT SAFETY IN PATO BRANCO (PR): DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT BASED ON LSAE

Abstract

This article analyzes the physical and situational security conditions of thirty-three educational institutions in Pato Branco-PR, based on data from the School Environment Security Survey (LSAE), developed by the Community School Patrol Battalion (BPEC/PMPR). The instrument evaluates the external area, the internal area, circulation flows, the urban/rural surroundings, and develops technical recommendations for school administrators. The results show that, although the internal infrastructure is generally adequate, there are recurring vulnerabilities in the perimeter and surroundings of the schools, highlighting vacant lots, nearby commercial establishments, and degraded areas classified as critical points. The technical recommendations converge on measures such as the creation of containment zones, raising walls with fencing and deterrents, improving lighting, and expanding electronic monitoring. It is concluded that the LSAE is a strategic tool for planning local school security policies, as it offers a territorialized diagnosis of vulnerabilities.
