TRAINING PRIMARY CARE PROFESSIONALS ON ADDRESSING THE HEALTH NEEDS OF LGBTQIAPN+ PEOPLE

Qualified access to healthcare by the LGBTQIAPN+ population still faces significant barriers in Primary Healthcare, including the lack of preparation of professionals to deal with the specificities of this population. The objective is to report on the experience of a training course held in two Family Health Strategies in southern Minas Gerais, in 2024, focusing on meeting the health demands of the LGBTQIAPN+ population, in line with Indicator 06 of the State Health Promotion Policy, which guides the correct completion of the “gender identity” and “sexual orientation” fields in the E-SUS APS system. The activity was conducted by a nursing student on a curricular internship, with the support of a nurse preceptor. The training included a review of the literature, the development of educational materials, and the application of active teaching strategies. The results indicated a positive impact on the training of professionals, with increased knowledge, improved communication, appreciation of inclusive language, and greater confidence in responding to the demands of the LGBTQIAPN+ population. Participants reported changes in professional practice, greater sensitivity, and recognition of the vulnerabilities faced by these users. In addition to contributing to the improvement of the quality of care, the training strengthened the academic training of students, highlighting the transformative role of educational actions in PHC and the importance of integration between teaching and health services.
