Introduction: Oral health was directly related to self-esteem, mental health, and quality of life. Dental problems such as tooth loss, malocclusion, and extensive caries compromised self-image, caused insecurity, and contributed to the development of disorders such as anxiety and depression. Objective: To investigate, through an integrative review, how oral health conditions affected the self-esteem and mental health of patients undergoing dental treatment.Methodology: This was an integrative literature review based on the CoCoPop strategy and the PRISMA protocol. Scientific articles published between 2020 and 2024 were selected from the PubMed, SciELO, EBSCO, and Google Scholar databases. The inclusion criteria were full-text studies in Portuguese, English, or Spanish, published in peer-reviewed journals. Conclusion: The literature showed that oral health had a strong emotional and social impact on patients. Aesthetic and functional dental rehabilitation, when combined with a humanized and multidisciplinary approach, significantly improved self-esteem, psychological well-being, and overall quality of life. Integrating dental and psychological care was essential for comprehensive patient health.
