This article discusses learning difficulties in the early years of elementary education, aiming to understand the main obstacles faced by students at this stage. The general objective of the research is to understand the causes of learning difficulties in elementary school. The guiding question of this study is: what do scientific studies say about learning difficulties in elementary education? To answer this question, the following specific objectives were established: to map studies that address learning difficulties in elementary education and to analyze what the scientific literature presents as their causes. The methodology adopted was a basic bibliographic research with a qualitative approach, based on the selection of scientific articles and e-books published between 2020 and 2024. The analysis indicates that learning difficulties are multifactorial, and may be related to family, social, cognitive, emotional, and methodological aspects. Therefore, it is essential to adopt differentiated pedagogical practices and to build an effective partnership between school and family in order to minimize these challenges.
