NIVELES SÉRICOS DE LEPTINA Y SU RELACIÓN CON LOS FALLOS OVULATORIOS EN PERRAS OBESAS

La obesidad en perros se ha convertido en un problema de salud cada vez más frecuente, asociado a alteraciones metabólicas y endocrinas capaces de interferir en la función reproductiva femenina. Teniendo en cuenta la escasez de estudios específicos que relacionen los cambios hormonales derivados del exceso de tejido adiposo con disfunciones ovulatorias en hembras caninas, se propuso analizar la asociación entre los cambios hormonales relacionados con el metabolismo energético y la aparición de disfunciones ovulatorias en hembras caninas con sobrepeso. Para ello, se llevó a cabo una revisión bibliográfica de carácter narrativo, con un enfoque cualitativo, basada en el análisis crítico de artículos científicos, revisiones, disertaciones y tesis obtenidos en bases de datos nacionales e internacionales. De este modo, se observó que el aumento de la masa grasa está consistentemente asociado al aumento de las adipocinas circulantes y al desarrollo de resistencia hormonal, factores que pueden comprometer la ovulación y la fertilidad. Por lo tanto, se concluyó que los cambios hormonales asociados al sobrepeso representan un factor de riesgo potencial para las disfunciones ovulatorias en las hembras caninas.
