BLACK CARTOGRAPHIES: COLONIALITY, DIASPORA AND CONSCIOUSNESS IN AMERICA

Abstract

This article is a Black intellectual cartography, with a qualitative approach and bibliographical nature, mapping the trajectories of thought of Aníbal Quijano, Achille Mbembe, and Abdias Nascimento to understand the complex web of the coloniality of power, the African diaspora, and the construction of Black political consciousness in Latin America. The notion of cartography here goes beyond geographic mapping, functioning as a critical and epistemological practice that seeks to reveal the symbolic and historical territories traversed by Black experiences and their resistance, thus configuring a decolonial perspective on the social and cultural formation of the region. The hypothesis is that the theoretical contributions of these authors allow us to understand the African diaspora not only as a demographic or cultural heritage, but as a political and epistemic subject capable of challenging the colonial foundations of Latin American modernity. Methodologically, the research is based on the critical analysis of theoretical frameworks fundamental to the critique of the modern-colonial world-system.
