Abstract

Introduction: Acute Chagas Disease (ACD) remains a public health challenge in Pará, with predominant oral transmission linked to the consumption of contaminated food. Objective: To demonstrate the epidemiological characteristics of Acute Chagas Disease in the State of Pará from 2014 to 2023. Methodology: Retrospective/descriptive epidemiological study with secondary data from SINAN/DATASUS. Analyzed variables: macroregion, seasonality, mode of infection, probable location, sociodemographic profile (age, sex, race, education), and cases in pregnant women. Results: Concentration in Macroregion I with 2,431 cases (88.02%), seasonal peaks from August to October, predominant oral transmission with 2,415 cases (87.44%), with a profile of young adults aged 20-39 years totaling 957 cases (34.65%), male sex 1,469 cases (54.16%), mixed race 2,359 cases (85.41%), regarding education level, most cases numbered 2,534 (91.75%) were categorized as unknown or none; and pregnant women numbered 69 (2.5%). Final considerations: ACD reflects socioeconomic inequalities in the Amazon, requiring integrated policies for epidemiological surveillance, food safety, and health education.
