Abstract

This report details the reinvention of teaching-learning practices at ECIT Advogado Nobel Vita (Coremas, Paraíba, Brazil) during the atypical 2020 school year, responding to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The main objective was to maintain educational quality, ensure student retention, and promote competency development by adapting methodologies and digital tools. The methodology involved implementing and training for platforms such as Google Classroom for pedagogical materials and Google Meet for live online classes. Adaptive strategies were developed, including providing printed materials for students without internet access and reorganizing teachers' home environments into classrooms. The curriculum was interdisciplinarily integrated, utilizing Portuguese Language (D6-D12, D14, D16, D18, D19, D23) and Mathematics (D15, D16, D27, D32, D33, D34) descriptors within Biology classes, in addition to addressing BNCC skills (EM13CNT104, EM13CNT203, EM13CNT202, EM13CNT301, EM13CNT302, EM13CNT304, EM13CNT309, EM13CNT310). Participation in Knowledge Olympiads, such as the National Science Olympiad (ONC), was also encouraged. Results demonstrate that the school surpassed the IDEB target set for 2021 (3.8), achieving 4.2, and achieved prominence in ENEM (student with a perfect 1000 in the 2020 essay), the state program "Desafio Redação Nota 1000," and exchange programs. ONC participation involved 131 students, with 30 qualifying for the second phase. Third-bimester averages indicated satisfactory performance across classes (e.g., 1A with 8.0; 2B with 7.7; 3A/3B with 7.6), despite the pandemic context. It is concluded that the dedication of the teaching staff, the reinvention of pedagogical practices, and technological adaptation were crucial for maintaining teaching quality, student engagement, and overcoming structural and social challenges, thereby strengthening student autonomy and life projects.
