DEMOCRATIC MANAGEMENT IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS: CHALLENGES AND PERSPECTIVES OF SCHOOL COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

This article aimed to analyze democratic management and school community participation within the context of public schools, seeking to understand the conditions necessary for the consolidation of this model and the challenges faced in its implementation. It is a bibliographic research, developed from the analysis of three recent scientific articles addressing the topic, enabling dialogue among different theoretical perspectives. Three main axes were identified: the concept of democratic management, school community participation in decision-making processes, and challenges and perspectives for implementation. The results indicated that democratic management depends on the institutionalization of participatory mechanisms, the continuous training of managers and teachers, and the promotion of an organizational culture focused on dialogue and co-responsibility. It was also found that effective participation requires stable deliberative instances, clarity of roles, and permanent communication channels. Limitations include cultural resistance to change, lack of time and resources, and the absence of long-term public policies. It is concluded that the consolidation of democratic management requires coordinated actions and collective commitment, opening paths for future research that investigates successful and replicable practices.
