This article analyzes the interconnection between linguistic literacy and mathematics, advocating for an integrated approach for the full development of students. The discussion begins with the social function of writing and mathematical language, exploring the axes of orality, reading, and writing in both areas. The text highlights the importance of breaking away from the traditional literacy model, focused on decoding symbols, toward a perspective that values understanding, interpretation, and the application of knowledge in real-world contexts. To achieve this, pedagogical strategies must be considered to promote integration between the two areas, such as the use of interdisciplinary projects, games, technologies, and problem-solving. Furthermore, these writings highlight reflections on the role of the teacher as a mediator in the teaching and learning process and the need for continuing education as an opportunity to address the challenges of contemporary education.
