Abstract

This article draws a parallel between the ideals of the French Revolution and the challenges of environmental education in the digital age. It argues that these principles, reinterpreted in the context of the complex relationship between technology, society, and the environment, are crucial for underpinning transformative environmental education. Through these concepts, it explores how the pursuit of informational autonomy (liberty), socio-environmental justice (equality), and digital solidarity (fraternity) can foster innovative and engaged pedagogical practices capable of developing conscious citizens who are active in building a sustainable future. The ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity, central to Enlightenment thought and the French Revolution, are analyzed for their relevance to contemporary times, focusing on their implications for education and the relationship with the environment. A deductive method and a qualitative approach were applied to achieve this.
