Abstract

The book "Public Policies in Physical Education" discusses the importance of training politically aware professionals, highlighting the role of public policies (PP) in sports, leisure, health, and education. Written by Fernando Augusto Starepravo, Vânia de Fátima Matias de Souza, and Fernanda Gimenez Milani, it addresses historical, conceptual, and legal aspects of PP in Brazil, emphasizing their influence on the professional practice of Physical Education (PE). Divided into six chapters, it addresses politics, sports, leisure, professional training, and emerging topics such as major sporting events and social inclusion. Published in 2018 by InterSaberes, the book uses accessible language and pedagogical resources to encourage study and reflection. Despite some repetitions in some themes, it achieves the goal of demystifying politics and its relevance in PE.
