STUDY OF DERMATOSES DIAGNOSED IN COMPANION ANIMALS, TREATED IN THE MAIN CLINICS IN IMPERATRIZ–MA

Nowadays, dermatology is an area that is obtain prominence, and it is believed that between 20 and 75% of veterinary care performed in veterinary clinics and hospitals is directly related to dermatological problems. The skin, as the largest organ of the body and which works as an anatomophysiological barrier between the animal and the environment, provides protection against physical, chemical and microbiological injuries (SCOTT et al., 1996; SCOTT, 2000; FEITOSA, 2020). Due to the extension of this organ and direct contact with the external environment, the dermis is susceptible to various conditions. The research analyzed 4 types of tests related to dermatology, namely: skin microscopy (668), otological cytology (290), trichogram (1) and fungal culture (20), which represented a total of 979 tests. Obtaining the data resulted from the analysis of the examinations of 3 clinics, all located in Imperatriz-Ma, Brazil, called clinics: 1, 2 and 3. The results showed that in relation to the species, the most tested was the canine (80,4%) and among these, the prevalence was higher among female (46%) than among male (42%). The most common agent found was coccoid bacteria (25.69%) and in relation to cellularity, squamous cells were the most present (29.77%). Among the three years of analysis, it stands out that in 2023 the majority of tests were carried out (59%).
