LOWER TRACT DISEASE IN A FELINE WITH POST URETHROTOMY STENOSIS – CASE REPORT

FLUTD is a condition that may or may not be caused by stress, it is a pathology that directly affects the lower urinary tract, is of great importance among the diseases that affect the urinary system of cats, making their well-being difficult, and may be diagnosed from the moment the animal presents characteristic symptoms of the disease, through complementary exams and imaging exams. Having how to carry out environmental management and medications. However, in some cases the patient has recurrence of obstructions and causing stenosis of the penile urethra and requiring surgical intervention of penectomy, together with urethrotomy. In view of this, the objective was to report the case of FLUTD. In the clinical care, the obstructive condition of the animal was verified, which was referred for surgery and subsequent washing of the urinary tract. An ultrasound examination was performed, which is of paramount importance for diagnosis. It is concluded that in order to maintain the quality of life of the animal, the surgical treatment of urethrotomy together with penectomy is the technique of choice for DILUTD and that it should be performed as soon as possible after the diagnosis.
