Abstract

Pregnancy is a significant period in a woman's life, given the many physical and physiological changes that occur during pregnancy, along with metabolic changes in the demand for micronutrients caused by the ingestion of ultra-processed foods, which is one of the factors that can result in the development of comorbidities such as obesity, hypertension, and gestational diabetes, which can cause risks during pregnancy and birth. Therefore, it is extremely important to assess the nutritional status of pregnant women, as it shows the reality in which the current lifestyle influences the gestational period through inadequate eating habits. The present study aims to evaluate the nutritional profile of pregnant women attended by the maternal and child support group (GAMI) located in the city of Adamantina-SP. This is a cross-sectional, quantitative study with an observational approach. The sample analyzed included 19 active pregnant women from GAMI in 2024, with an average age of 26.10 ± 6.71 years. It was observed that none of the pregnant women analyzed had pre-existing conditions; however, three developed gestational diabetes mellitus, one had pre-diabetes and anemia, and another had pre-diabetes and hypertension during pregnancy. Regarding weight gain, 68.42% of the pregnant women gained weight during the gestational period, and it was possible to observe in relation to the nutritional profile of the pregnant women that the majority began the pregnancy with obesity, with a high weight gain during this period. Most of these pregnant women have eating habits with greater consumption of processed and ultra-processed foods weekly, these foods being the biggest cause of comorbidities.
