This scientific article analyzes the effectiveness of psychological approaches in the treatment of common mental disorders, such as depression, anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder in Brazilian adults. The central problem lies in the high prevalence of these disorders in the population, associated with low adherence to treatment and the social stigma still present surrounding mental health. The main objective was to examine, through an integrative literature review, which psychological interventions present greater effectiveness and clinical acceptance in the contemporary Brazilian context. The methodology consisted of a survey of scientific articles published between 2013 and 2023 in national and international databases, prioritizing empirical studies and systematic reviews. The results indicated that approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy demonstrate high effectiveness in reducing symptoms and improving quality of life, with positive results in programs implemented in the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Furthermore, the integration between psychotherapy and the rational use of psychotropic drugs enhances therapeutic adherence. It was also observed that community programs, combined with psychoeducational practices, have broadened access to care, especially in regions of greater social vulnerability. It is concluded that, although psychological approaches have proven effectiveness, challenges related to unequal access, professional training, and cultural stigma remain. Strengthening public mental health policies and expanding evidence-based practices are recommended to consolidate comprehensive care for the adult Brazilian population.
