Abstract

Acute respiratory failure is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in children. Due to the anatomical and physiological particularities in pediatrics, in-depth knowledge of pediatric airway management is necessary. Professional training combined with technological educational resources, such as mobile applications, has been a facilitator in the field of airway management. The objective of this study was to develop and validate a professional support technology for the care of pediatric diseases in surgical contexts. The process was carried out in 4 stages: 1) Integrative literature review and survey of applications on iOS and Android platforms; 2) Development of the application, including layout definition, screen organization, functionality and content; 3) Evaluation of the application by professionals: pediatricians, physiotherapists and nurses, in addition to the information technologist. And validation through a questionnaire using the System Usability Scale (SUS). It is observed that the overall evaluation of the application reached an approval rate of 97.3%, with a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.863, consolidating the effectiveness of the proposal, and regarding the approval of the functionality (95.6%) and suitability (94.4%) criteria. Finally, Airped is an innovative and relevant technology for pediatric respiratory care, promoting greater solutions, safety, and quality of care.
