Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Childhood obesity has been one of the main triggering factors for type II Diabetes Mellitus, both in Brazil and worldwide. Given this situation, it is urgent and beneficial to analyze the impacts of childhood obesity on the onset of type II Diabetes Mellitus, as well as its prevention factors and interventional actions. OBJECTIVES: To analyze the prevalence and relationship of the diseases, the methodologies adopted, and the care networks of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) based on data from the Ministry of Health and scientific literature. METHODOLOGY: This study is a literature review, in which data will be collected from scientific articles and case reports available in CAPES, SciELO, and PubMed journals from 2019 to 2024, freely available in full and that fit the objective of the study. CONCLUSION: Childhood obesity is directly related to an increase in cases of type II Diabetes Mellitus in children, making the implementation of multidisciplinary and integrated programs across various social spheres essential to prevent this scenario.
