Abstract

Objective: The main purpose of the study is to analyze the articles found and summarize the effectiveness of Continuous positive airway pressure – CPAP nasal in premature newborns. Methodology: As a methodological option, an integrative review was chosen. The searches were carried out in the Virtual Health Library, using descriptors. In all, nine articles were selected, all in English, from 2018 to 2023. Results: Through the analysis of the articles, it was noticed that nasal CPAP helps in a faster improvement in the respiratory condition of premature newborns and reduces the number of adverse effects. It is concluded that nasal CPAP can be a beneficial and affordable treatment. However, studies on the subject are still scarce and restricted and that permanent education strategies are needed with health professionals for better training and use of this technology.
