The postpartum period, which begins after the birth of a baby, is full of changes and new adaptations in women's lives. Vulnerability and emotional instability can be exacerbated by socioeconomic factors such as education level and age. Building a support network to support postpartum women and promote the safety and well-being of both mother and child is crucial. In this context, the participation of healthcare professionals is crucial, as listening and establishing a connection between patient and professional can facilitate the recovery process and prevent health problems for women. This article aims to assess healthcare teams' knowledge of mental and postpartum distress and the quality of support these teams offer to postpartum women in the city of Itumbiara. This is an observational, cross-sectional, and quantitative survey study conducted in the 22 Family Health Strategies (ESFs) of Itumbiara, Goiás, Brazil, with the professionals working in these units: doctors, nurses, community health agents, psychologists, and social workers. The exclusion criteria were met. The data collected indicate the need to address potential obstacles or gaps in communication between healthcare professionals and postpartum women. These findings highlight the continued importance of implementing training and awareness programs to ensure that all professionals are equipped to provide appropriate support to postpartum women and newborns.
