Abstract

The advent of emerging technologies has profoundly transformed the educational scenario, redefining the role of the teacher and pedagogical practices. This study aimed to analyze the role of the teacher in the era of emerging technologies, identifying challenges, opportunities and future perspectives for their integration in the teaching-learning process. The research adopted a qualitative approach, based on a systematic bibliographic review of Brazilian academic sources from the last 10 years, including articles, theses and dissertations. The results indicated that the role of the teacher, far from being diminished, becomes more complex and crucial, evolving into that of a facilitator, curator of content and architect of learning experiences. It was observed that the effective integration of emerging technologies depends significantly on the continuing education of teachers and the implementation of appropriate educational policies. Important challenges were identified, including the need to develop new digital skills, adapt teaching methodologies and deal with ethical and privacy issues. The survey also highlighted the potential of emerging technologies to promote more personalized, collaborative, and inclusive education. It was concluded that the future of education in the digital age requires a balanced approach, which values the irreplaceable role of the teacher while taking advantage of the opportunities offered by emerging technologies to enrich and transform the educational process.
