Abstract

This article aims to investigate the legal nature of climate finance funds, given the scarcity of literature on this crucial and globally impactful subject. The research will begin with a brief introduction to what climate finance funds are, their role, and their history, mentioning both internationally and, principally, nationally originated funds, beside public or private ones too. Subsequently, a cataloging of some funds will be conducted according to their specificities and diverse structures—this true 'taxonomy' of the legal nature of these various funds will comprise the majority of this work. Finally, the study will conclude with a general overview of the subject, which is intended to serve as a starting point for further research on the legal nature of these funds and their implications. Furthermore, to ensure this work is thorough and accurate, a wide range of bibliographic references will be used, including books, online sources, and relevant legislation. The logical-deductive method will also be employed to derive necessary conclusions from these references. It is also emphasized that analyzing the legal nature of these funds can provide valuable contributions to the development and implementation of climate policies, underscoring the practical, as well as theoretical, importance of this study for scholars and policymakers.
