Abstract

A qualitative approach was adopted based on bibliographic research and collective interviews with deaf professionals over 18 years of age, with or without experience, who live in the municipality of Belém in the State of Pará. From the study, the following results were reached: (a) about 90% of the companies that hired deaf employees are committed to ensuring the quota system for people with disabilities; (b) in the perception of young deaf people about employment in Belém, 100% of the respondents agree on the lack of specialized jobs and emphasize the low capacity for work qualification for deaf people. Ultimately, the work presents the challenges encountered in the daily lives of deaf professionals, even after their insertion in the company.
