Abstract

The study analyzes cost optimization in the supply chain of new projects at companies supplying leather to the automotive industry in León, Guanajuato. Using a validated questionnaire administered to 29 employees, the main causes of cost overruns in recent projects were identified. Statistical analysis revealed significant correlations between process standardization, interdepartmental communication, and cost reduction. It also highlights the importance of digital technologies and analytical tools to improve estimating accuracy and increase competitiveness. Lack of communication, discrepancies between initial quotes and actual costs, and deficiencies in logistics control were identified as the main challenges. The study concludes that efficient management, supported by technologies and an organizational culture focused on continuous improvement, is key to maximizing project profitability and sustainability.
