O ESTADO DA ARTE DO PICKLEBALL: UMA REVISÃO NARRATIVA DA LITERATURA

Resumo

O presente estudo teve como objetivo realizar uma revisão da literatura científica produzida sobre o Pickleball na última década, com ênfase na caracterização do esporte, benefícios, riscos e lacunas científicas existentes. Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa da literatura, que buscou artigos publicados entre 2015 e 2025 nas bases de dados PubMed, BVS, Scielo e Google Scholar, utilizando o termo "Pickleball" no título. Foram selecionados 47 artigos que abordavam exclusivamente o esporte, excluindo-se trabalhos com viés médico-clínico ou que incluíam outros esportes de raquete na abordagem. Os resultados demonstram que o Pickleball é um esporte acessível, com forte componente social, que promove benefícios à saúde física e mental. A sua prática regular, de intensidade moderada, melhora marcadores cardiovasculares, a composição corporal, a força e o equilíbrio. Psicologicamente, está associada à redução da depressão, aumento do bem-estar, satisfação com a vida e melhora cognitiva. Contudo, o rápido crescimento do esporte resultou em um aumento significativo de lesões, principalmente fraturas em mulheres idosas e entorses/distensões em homens. A prevenção envolve preparação física adequada, uso de equipamentos de proteção e treinamento técnico. Identificou-se uma escassez de estudos longitudinais, sobre populações jovens e atletas de elite, e sobre lesões crônicas. Enfim, pela análise do estado da arte do Pickleball, podemos classificá-lo como uma ferramenta eficaz para a promoção da saúde. No entanto, seu crescimento deve ser acompanhado pelo avanço da produção científica e pela conscientização sobre a prevenção de lesões e cuidados para garantir uma prática segura e positiva para os seus praticantes.
