COMPARACIÓN DEL EFECTO DE LA SUPLEMENTACIÓN CON SELENIO Y GLUTAMINA EN EL AUMENTO DEL RECUENTO DE LINFOCITOS T CD4

Introducción: Las intervenciones nutricionales basadas en la ingesta adecuada de ciertos micronutrientes buscan mejorar el recuento de linfocitos T CD4+. Objetivo: Realizar una revisión bibliográfica sobre la suplementación nutricional con selenio o glutamina para aumentar el recuento de linfocitos T CD4+. Método: Se utilizó la base de datos PubMed para la selección de los estudios, empleando la siguiente estrategia de búsqueda: (selenio[título] O glutamina[título]) Y CD4[título]. No se estableció un periodo de tiempo. Resultados: Esta revisión incluyó 14 artículos sobre el tema. Conclusiones: La suplementación con selenio, administrada durante 24 meses, reduce significativamente la tasa de disminución del recuento de células CD4+ en pacientes que no han recibido terapia antirretroviral. En cuanto a la suplementación con glutamina, su administración parece aumentar la respuesta inmunitaria contra las infecciones y suprimir la expresión de citocinas, lo que reduce las reacciones inflamatorias. Además, el pretratamiento con glutamina podría conducir a una polarización más equilibrada de los linfocitos T, lo que aliviaría la respuesta inflamatoria y atenuaría las lesiones inducidas por la sepsis polimicrobiana.
