Abstract

This article analyzes data governance in corporate environments, focusing on organizational models, the responsibilities of the agents involved, and the minimum controls required for information management. The discussion is based on the understanding that the growing centrality of data in organizations requires structures capable of guiding decisions, standardizing processes, and ensuring greater reliability in the use of information. Methodologically, this is a bibliographic study, with a qualitative approach and descriptive character, developed from scientific articles published between 2018 and 2022, selected according to their adherence to the theme. The results indicate that data governance is consolidated when there is articulation between institutional frameworks, objective delimitation of responsibilities, and the adoption of control mechanisms related to quality, security, access, and traceability. It was also found that the effectiveness of these practices depends on the integration between organizational and technological dimensions, as well as on their incorporation into corporate routines. It is concluded that data governance constitutes an indispensable structure to support the strategic management of information, promote greater decision consistency, and expand the organizational capacity to use data in a coordinated and reliable manner.
